  • General practice receives 5p in every NHS pound but delivers 95% of patient contacts in the NHS
  • 54 practices lost in Kent & Medway since 2018
  • 142 FTE GPs needed in Kent & Medway to reach the national average
  • On average 1 GP (FTE) to 2779 patients in K&M
  • Most recent Kent LMC Practice survey:
    • GP contractors report working 53% above their working hours in an average week
    • 60% report significant stress
    • 31% report workload is rarely manageable and 19% report workload in unmanageable
    • 30% have ceased recruitment due to financial uncertainty
  • GP appointment capacity will need to increase by 1.7m appointments per annum by 2030 to meet the needs of the increasing population and ageing population of Kent & Medway.
